Swifts sunk again
STOURPORT suffered their fourth straight defeat as they went down 1-0 at home to fellow strugglers Rothwell Town.
The only goal came on 12 minutes, Steve Perton sliding the ball home at the far post from Michael Boyle-Chong's cross.
Swifts looked a better side after the break but it was the visitors who continued to create the clearer chances with Stourport keeper Chris Jay forced into a double save to deny Jon Stead and Perton on 56 minutes before the impressive Stead chipped an effort against the crossbar.
Peter Wood finally forced the Rothwell keeper into a save on 72 minutes and shotstopper Tom Smith did well to deny the defender again following some good work from substitute Alex Lavery.
But the Swifts goal was also leading a charmed life in the closing stages. With ten minutes to go, substitute Liam McInally watched his shot hit the inside of the post and roll across goal before fellow replacement Liam Booth managed to miss the target with the rebound.
A minute later and Jay did well again, saving from Stead with Booth heading the rebound over the crossbar.
Swifts: JAY 8, Smith 7, Robinson 6, Frost 5, Wood 7, A Blake 6, Colwell 6, Webb 6, Marshall 5 (Broadhurst 60, 7), Upton 6, Andrews 7 (Lavery 60, 6). Subs (not used): Harris, Stamps, J Blake.
