Late strike sinks Swifts
FA CUP heroes Chasetown grabbed a late winner to edge to a 2-1 victory at home to Stourport Swifts.
But it was the visitors who had the opening chance of the game, Nathan Jukes rattling the crossbar with a 35-yard effort midway through the first half.
That miss proved costly for Swifts as the Scholars took the lead just ten minutes later. Scott Clamp picked up the ball inside the Stourport half and, after jinking past three players, placed his shot beyond keeper Chris Jay.
Neil Hunt's side belied their lowly league position by clawing their way back into the match, levelling the scores on the hour when Jukes calmly slotted away a penalty following a foul on Alex Lavery.
But any hopes Stourport may have had of returning home with a share of the spoils ended four minutes from time. The defence failed to deal with a long thrown into the area and Todd Perry's header found its way into the net after taking a deflection from defender Chris McComiskey.
Swifts: Jay 8, Smith 8, Wood 7, JUKES 9 (Frost 80), McComiskey 7 (Harris 90), Blake 6, Colwell 9, Webb 7, Marshall 5 (Andrews 46, 7), Willetts 8, Lavery 8. Subs (not used): Ladek, Tomkins
