Swifts swatted by Harriers

Kidderminster Harriers 5
Stourport Swifts 0
Worcestershire Senior Cup

HARRIERS eased past Stourport Swifts into the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Senior Cup in a one-sided game at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

Five first half goals ensured Harriers will meet Worcester City in the final four at St George's Lane.

Manager Mark Yates rang the changes from the side that lost 1-0 in the Blue Square Premier to Droylsden on Saturday.

He chose himself in midfield, assistant Neil Howarth at right back and physio Ian Foster in attack alongside striker Matthew Barnes-Homer.

Swifts manager Neil Hunt also put out a weakened side, dropping keeper Chris Jay for back up Craig Ladek and was without the injured Richard Colwell and Nathan Jukes, while Simon Fitter was cup-tied.

Howarth put Harriers ahead in the second minute when he bundled Simon Russell's corner into the back of the net.

The dominant hosts left the BGB Southern League Division One Midlands side chasing shadows and Ian Foster controlled Ladek's poor kick and made it 2-0 in the 19th minute.

Barnes-Homer scored less than sixty seconds later after good work by Brian Smikle and Foster.

The young striker then made it 4-0 in the 39th minute when he headed Russell's cross past Ladek.

He then completed his hat-trick by beating Stourport's off-side trap in the 44th minute and finished coolly.

Swifts improved in a goalless second half while Harriers seemed content to play out the game and keep their five-goal advantage.
