Frosty start for Swifts
Rushall Olympic 1
Stourport Swifts 1
AN early long-range effort from Steve Frost secured a share of the spoils for Swifts at Dales Lane.
There were just 11 minutes on the clock when he struck, steering his 25-yard shot through a crowded area and past former Stourport keeper Tony Breeden.
And the visitors nearly doubled their lead before half-time when new signing Shane Gill, a student at University College Worcester, went close only for the Rushall keeper to deny him with a smart save.
As the half drew to a close the home side upped the tempo in search of an equaliser.
aul McMahon put an effort wide after Swifts keeper Chris Jay had kept out a Lee Gough effort but injury time saw Junior Brown net the equaliser with a fierce low drive.
Rushall edged the chances in the second period and almost grabbed a last gasp winner when some trickery from Neil Barnfield took him past his marker only for his shot to clear the Stourport crossbar.
Swifts: Jay 8, Smith 7, R Tomkins 8, Wood 7, Frost 8 (McComisky 44, 7), ROBINSON 9, L Tomkins 7, Fitter 6 (Williams 71), Willetts 6 (Burgess 82), Gill 7, Ballinger 6. Subs (not used): Andrews, Ladek.
