Whitehouse to play key role in Bedworth battle

KIDDERMINSTER Carolians will be preparing for a tough physical battle in the Midlands Division Two West (South) on Saturday when they entertain Bedworth (3pm ko).

KCs are braced for a test and to combat the visitors, head coach Ian Bletcher is set to make a tactical switch by bringing in James Whitehouse at full back.

They will also be boosted by the return of outside centre Nick Martin and hooker Stu Such after they missed Saturday’s 29-14 win at Upton on Severn.

Bletcher said: “Bedworth are like all Warwickshire sides, they are physical and strong and we have to deal with that.

“I am moving James Whitehouse to full back, he’s a strong tall lad, who is good under the ball and will give us a bit more solidity.

“We will have to make sure we move Bedworth around if we are to win the game.”

Bletcher was also pleased with another committed display at Upton after losing a host of players through injury before the match.

He added: “We lost a few before the game but I was very pleased with the guys we drafted in.

“We haven’t added many more players to the squad but we’re working hard with them to improve and that makes a difference.

“I was very pleased with the passion and determination although I thought at times werwere a little naive in some areas.”

KCs are now fourth in the table and they will be looking to maintain their excellent home record, having already beaten Kenilworth and Newbold at Marlpool Lane.
