Medal success: Steven Boyce
KIDDERMINSTER swimmer Steven Boyce won a hat-trick of medals at the 2012 Downs Syndrome World Swimming Championships.
The 27-year-old earned gold in the 100-metre butterfly in a time of one minute and 31 seconds and bronze in the 100m backstroke (1.38).
He was also part of the Great Britain quartet that came second in the 3x50m relay at the tournament, which was hosted by the Italian city of Loana last week.
Boyce has been supported by his parents and also received a £400 grant from Wyre Forest District Council’s Expressions scheme.
He said: “I really enjoyed the experience. “My parents and I would like to thank the Expressions fund for help towards my trip, and the support I’ve had from my family and friends.”
Meanwhile, Wyre Forest SC members achieved an outstanding 74 county qualifying times in this weekend's club championships.
