Going the distance: Bewdley School’s Jak Patrick shows off the medal he won at the district cross country championships.
BEWDLEY School and Sixth Form maintained their excellent cross country record as they won the Wyre Forest Championships for the fifth successive year.
Forty pupils from key stage three and four levels were in action over the four-kilometre races.
Their place as overall champions was sealed as they won won four of the six final races.
The boys team were also in dominant mood as they topped their section, while the girls team finished a very close second.
Jak Patrick (Year 7), Ryan Giles (Year 8/9), Bryony Haines (Year 10/11) and Callum Tinsdale (Year 10/11) all claimed first places for Bewdley.
The school now has a host of students who have qualified for the county championships in February.
Students were picked after successfully coming through Bewdley’s trials, which were introduced to generate enthusiasm and competition for cross-country.
The PE department also runs a successful cross-county after school club, with over 20 learners currently attending each week.
PE teacher Richard Ward said: “As a school we think it is very important to give every student the chance to represent the school.
“Everyone takes part and the dedication and competitve spirit of the students brings the best of out everyone.
“We also run an after school cross country club which also makes a big difference.
“Congratulations to the students, they have made the school proud.”

Year 8/9: Ryan Giles (1st); James Hoarle (2nd); Becky Carter (4th).
Year 10/11: Callum Tinsdale (1st); Fergus Bell (4th); Ryan Knowles (5th); Bryony Haines (1st); Charlotte Jones (2nd); Ella Shepherd (5th); Amy Rice (7th); Sophie Baron (9th); Josie Blakiston (10th).
