Bird nets winner

STEVE Bird grabbed a dramatic winner as Harriers’ fans team edged out their counterparts from Forest Green Rovers 4-3 on a soggy Saturday.

David Goode opened the scoring from the spot after a handball.

The lead was doubled when a free-kick taken from by the halfway line by Goode hit Wayne Allen and the goalkeeper on its way towards the final destination of the net.

The hosts pulled a goal back after the ball had zipped around and area and already forced keeper Dave Ackerley into action.

Marc Stones then showed good strength and lethal finishing to score the fans’ team’s third goal.

In the second half, the home side scored twice early on to level the scores.

But Harriers had the last laugh when Bird’s free-kick arced over the wall and slithered under the despairing dive of Rovers’ keeper.
