Stourport suffer loss

STOURPORT Ladies were edged out 2-1 by Cannock in a friendly clash.

Erin Preece nearly opened the scoring for Stourport but deflected an effort wide, while Sade Gerald came close.

But Cannock went 1-0 up with a solid strike.

A counter-attack in the second-half doubled the away side’s lead but Leanne Bennett fired home a rebound to hand Stourport a lifeline.

This weekend, Stourport compete in the National Division Two Maxifuel Indoor League in Nottingham.

The thirds drew 3-3 with Badsey, with Abbie Yapp, Sophie Baron and Holly Lashford scoring.

Meanwhile, the fifths were edged out by Kidderminster in a warm-up game.

In the Midlands Premier Division, Stourport men’s first team were beaten 6-0 by Coventry and North Warwickshire. The now entertain leaders Bournville on Saturday.

In West Midlands Division One, Kidderminster went down 4-1 to Solihull Blossomfield. They go to Old Wulfrunians this weekend.
