Bewdley hoping for fixture changes

BEWDLEY Town are set to talk to West Midlands Premier League secretary Neil Juggins about moving some of their home fixtures in February to their opponents.

Town have been handed seven league and cup home games next month and the club are concerned about a host of cancellations because of the Arctic conditions.

Even if the snow melts, the affect on the River Severn, which flows close to Ribbesford Meadow, would force matches off.

Bewdley are already lagging behind the rest of the division in terms of fixtures and face a frantic end to the campaign, to get in all their West Midlands matches before the FA’s deadline of the first weekend in May.

Town have seen their last five matches postponed and have not played since January 5.

Trips to Darlaston and Shawbury were postponed this week and Saturday’s home clash against Lye Town is unlikely to go ahead as there is still snow on the pitch.

Club secretary Steve Godfrey said: “Some of the teams we will play in February we’ve not played at all, so hopefully we can move the matches to their grounds.”
