SAMURAI’S unstoppable Darcie Hancocks clocked up another gold medal at the Midlands Open Championships at Walsall last weekend.

The Midlands was the one major major title which eluded the Kidderminster junior last year, as she missed the event due to a football injury.

This time she made no mistake despite the presence of the best players in her age and weight in the country.

The 11-year-old added the Midlands gold to the British Championships, the London International Open, the West of England Open and the Welsh Open titles.

Nathan Gallacher was also on superb form.

A hat-trick of maximum point throws saw him come within a whisker of making the final in his category.

He lost out in the semi-final but came back well to win the bronze in his last contest with another maximum point throw.

Gallacher has been looking better with each performance recently and this was his best yet.

There were also bronzes for Andy Calloway and Charlotte Read, both competing at this level for the first time, and fifth places for Matthew Hemer and Bryony Griffiths as well as good performances from Hettie Tinsdale and Ellie Arnull.

More than 600 players from all over the country took part and the four medals saw Samurai finish second out of the Midlands clubs, just pipped by Coventry.
