Golden girl: Ellie Bainbridge shows off the four gold and two silver medals she won at the County Championships.
ELLIE Bainbridge led the way with four gold medals as Wyre Forest Swimming Club impressed in the first week of the County Championships.
The nine-year-old tasted victory in the 100-metre and 400m individiual medley, 200m freestyle and 200m breaststroke.
The Holy Trinity High International School student also won silvers in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly as she set five personal best times out of six events.
Mother Nicola Bainbridge, who also works part-time as a PE teacher at the school, said: “I am immensely proud of her. She’s worked extremely hard as the results show.
“Ellie achieved both gold and silver medals and new personal best times in five of her six events, which are great personal achievements.
“Once all County Championships have taken place we’ll then have a clearer picture of where she stands in the national rankings, but it’s already looking very promising.”
Wyre Forest’s swimmers turned on the style at the championships with a host of strong displays.
Sam Osbourne, 11, was also in fantastic form as he claimed a hat-trick of golds in the 50m butterfly, 100m individual medley and 200m freestyle as well as second in the 50m backstroke.
Nine-year-old Alexander Rosser-Barnett claimed three silvers in the 200m breaststroke,100m individual medley and 200m freestyle and bronze in the 50m backstroke.
There was also medals for Millie Jay (bronze 100m IM, silver 200m breaststroke), Natasha Walker (bronze 100m IM), Jordan Chappell (bronze 200m breaststroke), Harvey Thompson (bronze 50m butterfly, 200m freestyke), Johnathan McMahon (gold 50m butterfly; silver 100m IM), Imogen Rhodes (bronze 200m freestyle), Isobel Bowers (bronze 50m back) and Abbie Rowley (silver 50m butterfly).
