Captain Morgan shines for fans
8:00pm Thursday 7th March 2013 in Local
HARRIERS’ fans team powered into the semi-finals of the IFA British Supporters Cup after handing out a 4-0 hammering of West Ham.
Despite missing a four players from last week’s cup victory over Ayr it was Harriers who started stronger.
The hosts got the all important first goal when Dave Greaves finished with an excellent volley to round off a good move.
The visitors were still dangerous on the counter-attack though and goalkeeper Dave Ackerley made an excellent save to keep the Hammers out.
Harriers soon got a second though as Greaves once again finished well with his left foot.
The hosts, playing in Cookley, started the second-half well and the game was soon put beyond the visitors when from a corner defender Richard Hall headed home for the third.
With the home side now in control, Harriers added a fourth when striker Steve Thomas’ hard work was rewarded with a goal as his shot founds its way into the net.
Captain Andy Morgan was solid in defence to win the man-of-the-match award in a fine all-round team performance.
Next up for the fans team is a trip to Grimsby to play their supporters before Harriers’ important top-of-the-table clash.
