Town stun title chasers to continue upward trend

BEWDLEY Town continued their resurgence with two more impressive wins in the West Midlands Premier Division.

The Ribbesford Meadows outfit stunned title-chasing Black Country Rangers 3-1 on Saturday thanks to a brace for Ed Flory and one for Chris Hough.

Flory had to be taken to hospital after the game because of a bang to the head but no serious injury was detected.

On Tuesday night, Steve Nurse marked his debut with a goal and Luke Towler bagged another as Town defeated Darlaston 2-0.

Nurse has moved to Rock in near Bewdley and decided to play for Town after plying his trade in the Midland Combination League for Blackwood.

Joint manager Craig Payton said: “I am really proud of the team.

“We hadn’t played for 11 weeks but to react by winning four in a row is fantastic.”

Town tackle Willenhall at home tonight (7.45pm ko), entertain Malvern on Saturday (3pm ko), take on Wolverhampton Sporting Community away on Tuesday (7.45pm ko) and play leaders Lye Town at home next Thursday (7.45pm ko).
