Bletcher calls in a referee to help final push
12:00pm Friday 22nd March 2013 in Local
KIDDERMINSTER Carolians have been working with a secret weapon ahead of Saturday’s Midlands Division Two West (South) clash at Leamington — referee Tom Bartram.
The up-and-coming official was present at training on Tuesday night to give a different point of view on how to play the game.
Worcester Warriors pair Aleki Lutui and Ravai Fatiaki were also on hand to work with the squad.
Head coach Ian Bletcher said: “Tom came in and helped us work on the areas where we have conceded penalties. It’s also about trying to make the game flow as much as possible.
“Anyone who watched England lose to Wales at the weekend will see how important it is to understand what the referees expect.”
KCs will be hoping to further cement their top-three spot with a win Warwickshire. The Wyre Forest side won the home fixture 17-9 but Leamington felt they could have got more from the match.
Bletcher added: “Reading Leamington’s match report after our win we were surprised to see they felt they dominated us in certain areas.
“It’s another really big game for us and we’ll be trying to win it.”
KCs will see Rhys Pritchard continue at fly half and Andy McLellan at full back following Saturday’s friendly victory over Worcester Wanderers II XV.
