KIDDERMINSTER-based Naomi Folkard continued her extraordinary form as she stormed to victory at the British Target Championships and set a national record in the proccess.
Folkard scored added an amazing 19 points on to the ladies’ recurve national record for the double FITA round, while Saints and Sinners Bowmen club-mate Chris Bell won bronze in the men’s compound event.
The Championships, held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre, was over two days, with 12 dozen arrow FITA rounds each day.
It was also the fifth and final round of the National Series event, and the last chance for archers to win one of the four places in their discipline at the grand final in Nottingham.
Folkard stormed into the lead on day one with 1,342, ahead of fellow Olympian Amy Oliver (1,295), Nicky Hunt (1,281) and Jeanetta Braun (1,278).
She increased her lead on day two to finish on 2,662, beating her own national record of 2,643.
In the men’s compound competition Bell shot well to score 2,751, gaining third place behind Ravenscroft (Bowflights) 2,776 and Grimwood (Blackthorn) 2,754.
