3:00pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in Local
COOKLEY kept their survival bid alive in the Worcestershire League Division Two with a ten- wicket win over whipping boys Tenbury.
Bottom side Tenbury put up a valiant display but could only manage 112 all out with Ian Roberts taking 4-25.
Al Roden (50 no) and Ad Nicholls (49 no) knockied off the runs for a maximum points victory.
The Villagers have a 21 point lead over second from bottom Stourport with two matches of the season left.
Cookley go to Coombs Wood, who are one place ahead, in the league on Saturday (12.30pm start).
Bottom of the table mid way with not a single win the seconds’ great escape looks a reality with a maximum points win at Droitwich.
The home side chose to bat and only made 145 despite their run machine James Hancher (790 so far this season) with 82 not out.
Harry Madeley who had dropped Hancher off an easy chance making amends with 5-26.
Mitch Taylor showed his class with 54 not out with Kiwi Kheinan Morrissey returning from overseas travel adding 36.
The seconds now need just 16 points from two games to ensure safety.
