KVCC are aiming to make big winter signing

KIDDERMINSTER Victoria will be looking to make a major signing this winter.
First team manager Ian Kimberlin said: “We’ve already got a couple of people in mind that we’d like to bring in — ideally I’d like it to be an all-rounder.
“I feel that if we could add one more seasoned Birmingham League player to the squad, then we’d be in a position to have a real crack at Shrewsbury next season.
“We’re not planning any wholesale changes, in fact we’re looking to keep everyone, while promoting youngsters Ryan Derrick and Charlie Stainforth from the seconds.
“However, we’re not certain yet what the situation is with Neil Pinner.
“Following his release from Worcestershire, Neil is trying to get back in with another county.
“If he gets one, then that would have a big impact on us”.
Pinner proved his value to Kidderminster as they brought the curtain down on this season’s Birmingham League campaign by beating already relegated Wolverhampton by seven wickets.
Ian Kimberlin said: “Credit to Wolverhampton, they came to give it a real go. Fortunately we won the toss to a match that had already been reduced to 32 overs.
“Wolves went for the runs when they batted, but we did a very disciplined job with the ball and kept it tight.
“Both Chris Russell and Aneesh Kapil batted really well.
“Chris is a more than useful batsman and can be very dangerous once he gets going.
“He’s a real handful with the ball as well and has a bowling speed into the late 80’s.
“By the time we went into bat, the ball was still moving around quite a bit and we had a bit of a squeaky start when quickly losing openers Craig Wood and Connor Smith.
“But Neil and Zac Turley batted beautifully to make half centuries and saw us home fairly comfortably with eight overs to spare.
“We’ve finished fifth in the table, we would have liked top four but we had a really disappointing second half of the season.”
