LADIES FOOTBALL: Wyre Forest Phoenix saw off Welland 5-3 in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County League on Sunday.
Despite missing three players and only having 11 to call upon, Phoenix took charge and powered into a 3-0 lead.
Welland hit back in the second half but goals for Emilia Sinden, Gemma Ratcliffe, Mellissa Knott, Sadie Brown and Thea Phillips-Howl shot down the visits.
In the West Midlands League Division One South, injury ravaged Wyre Forest lost 3-1 at home to Malvern.
Wyre Forest could only field ten players and things got worse when Heidi Mitchell limped off with a knee injury after 15 minutes.
After a goalless first half, Malvern took advantage of their extra numbers and opened the scoring.
Stacy Whittall headed in a leveller but two late goals shot them down.
The under-10s were edged out 2-0 by Redditch United, while the under-13s saw off Nunnery Wood Vipers thanks to Sydney Harris’ brace.
Chloe Whyley bagged a hat-trick, while Annabelle Lynch, Caelen Gower and Millie Jay scored as Phoenix under-14s defeated Fazeley 6-3.
The under-17s went down 4-1 to Wordsley Wasps, with Kathryn Baylis on target.
