Hough double ends Town’s losing run

BEWDLEY Town eased the pressure on them as they ended their two-game losing run with a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Brockhampton.
A brace for Chris Hough and one for youngster Tyler Williams saw Town bounce back from heavy defeats to Wellington and Black Country Rangers.
They were unable to build on that result on Tuesday night, as their home match against Bustleholme was rained off.
Saturday’s home clash against Cradley in the West Midlands Premier (3pm ko) could be in jeopardy as Bewdley’s Ribbesford Meadow home is on the banks of the River Severn. Town are also scheduled to go to Shifnal in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
Joint manager Craig Payton said: “Unfortunately, after heavy rain usually means the river floods so we’re not sure if the Cradley match will be on.
“But it was a relief to win on Saturday, it eased the pressure.
“Those defeats looked bad but the performances did not reflect the score, the games were close but in both matches the second halves ran away from us.”
Town are in a period of transition this season and have been blooding up and coming players from the under-21s.
Payton added: “The under-21s have been a big success for us.
“We had five of them in the squad at the weekend and it’s a matter of giving them time to get used to senior football.”
The under-21s take on Feckenham’s senior team away in the first round of the WFA Saturday Junior Cup this weekend (2pm ko).
