Towler in Town exit
6:00am Friday 1st November 2013 in Local
BEWDLEY Town have said a fond farewell to striker Luke Towler who is taking up a professional golfer position in Turkey.
Towler, who was working at a club in Telford, leaves Town struggling for options up front.
Bewdley have the services of long term hitman Chris Hough and up and coming hitman Redd Savage and Russell Godfrey.
However, joint manager Craig Payton believes goals can be shared around the team.
He said: “We’re sorry to see Luke go, we brought him in to replace Richard Burgess.
“But he wants to pursue his golfing career and this is a wonderful opportunity for him in Turkey.
“We’ve already told him that if he comes back the door is open to him at Bewdley.
“We’re going to need Chris Hough to play regularly but we’re capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch.”
Meanwhile, Town are hoping the playing surface at the Ribbesford Meadow home holds up after last weekend’s match against Cradley was called off because it was waterlogged.
Bewdley, who were set to play at Shifnal last night in the West Midlands Premier, take on a Wednesfield side on Saturday (3pm ko) who are unbeaten in six games.
They then take on Wolverhampton Community away in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
