STOURPORT Ladies fourths shot down Telford’s seconds in an entertaining 4-2 victory on Saturday.

They had opened the scoring in the first half through Pauline Knott’s fine strike, only for Telford to level a few minutes later.

Stourport upped their game in the second period and good work by Tilda Darling allowed Ella Wilkinson to fire the hosts ahead again.

Goals for Knott and Eleanor Johnson then saw them power into a 4-1 lead.

Telford fought back and made it 4-2, but player-of- the-match Kathy Doyle helped to marshal the home defence.

The sixths were beaten 4-2 by their team-mates from the fifths, for whom Melissa Churchill scored a hat-trick.

The match was more about celebrating the 60th birthday of the sixths defender Sandra Barlow.

Two first-half strikes from Churchill handed the fifths a 2-0 interval lead, while Barlow was only denied a goal by Dee Goodwin’s stick on the line.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with Amy Ryan scoring the fifths’ third goal.

Jean Senior pulled one back for the sixths, but Churchill then completed her treble to restore her side’s two-goal advantage.

Barlow saw her effort bobble to Teri Baron, who converted the chance, but it wasn’t enough to spark a final push.
