KIDDERMINSTER and Stourport AC shone at their home track on Saturday to win by more than 100 points and take overall Senior Track and Field League victory.

In similar conditions to those experienced earlier in the year, the men’s hammer and women’s long jump took place in the pouring rain.

But KSAC again prevailed at Stourport Sports Club, with team manager Dave Morris winning the hammer A and Matt Wilson getting a personal best with 25.20 metres and winning the B event, a huge personal improvement.

Wilson also won the discus B with another PB and the shot B, while Morris went on to win the discus and shot A events.

Heidi Jarosinski took first place in the the long jump A and Jill Turner-Smith won the B.

Rising star Ellie Ravenscroft competed in the 400m hurdles for the first time, winning by a margin of more than 10 seconds from her nearest rival in 72.1 seconds and also won the high jump A 1.35m and javelin B 20.32m.

Fresh from winning the English Schools hammer, Katie Lambert continued her fine form by winning the hammer A with 45.79m, the javelin A with 24.6m and the discus B with 21.43m.

Harry Higginson, 15, was second in the B 800m with a time of 2.28.3.

Archie Roberts, 16, stepped up from the 800m to the1,500m and took the A race in 4.33.0 with Craig Baldwin winning the B in 4.37.6.

Jess Murdoch, 15, was runner-up in the 100m B in 15.2s and ran an impressive leg of the 4x400m for the first time.

Sam Hadley narrowly missed out in the 400m hurdles, taking second in 62.3 but won the high jump A and finished third in the javelin A.

Newcomer Mark Boxall is fast improving and won the javelin B with 34.31m.

In the field, Alex Surridge got tantalisingly close to 11m in winning the triple jump A with 10.99m and also won the long jump B with 5.34m.

Mark Hawkins and Alex Sparks both ran the hard man event, the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing third in the A and B races respectively.

In the relays, KSAC’s women won the 4x100m and 4x400m, with the latter anchored by 400m individual winner Kirstie Overfield.

KSAC’s men won a thrilling 4x400m by edging out Tamworth thanks to Corwin Barnes.
