KIDDERMINSTER Carolians are set for a tough start to the Midlands Division Two West (North) when they travel to Tamworth on Saturday.

The Marlpool Lane outfit warmed-up for their league campaign with a comfortable 55-5 win over Shrewsbury in the North Midlands Cup.

Head coach Ian Bletcher is set to hand a first team debut to Colts prop Mark Desogus because Matt Rigsby is unavailable and Ben Turner is suspended following a sending off for stamping at the weekend.

George Morgan is also carrying an injury but Chris Pinner is set to play some part, albeit he looks set to start on the replacements’ bench.

Director of rugby Phil Knowles said: “Tamworth won’t be easy, they are coached by the Leicester player Jordan Crane so you would expected them to be very well organised.

“But if we can improve 10 per cent from Saturday’s game then I am sure we will be fine.”

KCs eased their way into the second round of the North Midlands Shield with a comfortable win against Shrewsbury, who they will meet in the league later in the season.

Captain Rob Delahay opened the scoring with a driven try, while before Rhys Pritchard bagged a hat-trick of tries in a one-sided clash.
