BEWDLEY Town bounced back from their luckless FA Vase exit to secure a stunning 3-2 success at top of the table Malvern Town this week.

Having lost out 4-3 in extra time to higher ranked Coventry Sphinx, Bewdley shocked Malvern by racing into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Richard Costello, Alex Kilgour and 18 year old James Baldwin.

Delighted Bewdley coach Paul 'Ocha' Davies, who was holding the managerial reins in the absence of Phil Mullen admitted: "What was most pleasing was the fact we've been having to send out a patched-up side as we've really been struggling with injuries, suspensions and unavailabilities.

"There were a few players carrying knocks against Coventry Sphinx, but once we'd pulled it back to 3-3, we battered them before the snuck away and scored with two minutes remaining.

"It was the same against Malvern and we were on our last legs by the end, but we never looked like losing. They didn't score their second goal until the last kick of the game.

"Having lost our first six league games, there's now a new belief and confidence going through the side at the moment and we must make sure there's no complacency".

Davies remains in charge this Saturday when they host new leaders Haughmond from Shrewsbury before visiting Wolves Casuals on Tuesday.

Davies hopes to include a couple of new signings while welcoming back Tom Bishop and Sam Woodhouse but full back Will Ward is suspended.
