SICKNESS-stricken Bewdley Town were forced to call off last night’s game against Willenhall.

Bewdley boss Phil Mullen was unable to raise a side and said: “We had no alternative!

Mullen explained: “We had three or four players missing for last Saturday’s game against Black Country Rangers after they all went down with a stomach bug.

“I had a roll call on Monday night ahead of the Willenhall game and we had 16 players. By 4pm on Tuesday, we were down to 10. Yes, it was a very late call and it was with great regret that I had to call the game off. I’ve also told everyone to stay away from the club on Thursday night.

“I’m just hoping with fingers crossed that Saturday’s home game against Shawbury United will go ahead.

“However, it may still be the case that I have to bring one or two new players in”.

Heavily depleted Bewdley were beaten 4-1 at Cradley-based Black Country Rangers but remained in contention until the closing stages.

Trailing 2-0 at half time, they clawed a goal back through Dan Flowers but two late goals from Rangers sealed their fate but Mullen insisted: “At least we survived a thrashing!
