STOURPORT Men returned to action in with a 7-1 win over friendly rivals Sutton Coldfield.

This warm-up game was a chance for coach Kali Takher to see how his squad would cope.

Stourport were not at full strength but confidence was high after building a 10-game unbeaten run in the Midlands Division One before Christmas.

Despite early domination, Stourport found themselves 0-1 down from a short corner.

But the hosts continued to press Sutton back and eventually levelled and then went ahead to lead 2-1 at half-time.

Their dominance and fitness paid dividends in the last 20 minutes with a further excellent five strikes while just a single effort from Sutton was conceded.

Goals came from Dan Petrie (2) Matt Derbyshire(2) Dan Hurley an Andy Cavendish short corner and a solo effort from skipper Chris Hill.

This weekend, they continue their build up to the second half of their league campaign with a triangular match versus Robinsons from Bristol and Edgbaston at home (11.30am start).

Stourport’s league clash against Coventry has been rescheduled due to their young players Cook, Petrie and Claris playing in the National Indoor Under-18 Finals.
