WYRE Forest Phoenix produced a spirited battling display to draw WTC Raiders 2-2 in the Midwest Counties Female Football League.

With the luxury of 12 players available, Phoenix fancied their chances and created enough chances to win this game.

Debutant Paige McInerney had a couple of chances, but found the Raiders’ keeper in fine form.

Wyre Forest fell behind when keeper Charleigh Lowe had made a good save from the penalty spot but was beaten by the rebound.

But, Eleni Papadopoulos levelled the scores with a chip in the 40th minute.

Phoenix were in charge but after failing to take their chances, Raiders edged ahead after an attack down the right wing.

But they made it 2-2 in the 79th minute when Natalie Westcott finished well.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Count Cup semi-final, Phoenix got the better of Cookley Sports Ladies 4-1.

Kirsty Roberts bagged a hat-trick and Sadie Brown another as for the third season in a row, Wyre Forest reached the final.

Meanwhile, the under-13s lay out a lively stalemate at Kinver Colts, going straight on the attack from the outset and creating three clear cut chances within 10 minutes, although they were unable to finish any of them.

Fantastic work from Emily Crump and Angel Childe up front put pressure on the Kinver defence who were lucky to still have a clean sheet.

The under-9s are looking for new players and anyone interested can go to clubweb site.co.uk/wyreforestphoe nixfc for more information.
