BEWDLEY Town have arranged to switch their next two home matches to play at Stourport Swifts’ Walshes Meadow ground in a bid to beat the weather.

Secretary Steve Godfrey said: “There’s no panic, as we’re quite well up with our fixtures, but we didn’t want to get into a situation where we are playing on Thursday nights in April.”

As a result, Bewdley will host Cradley Town at Swifts next Wednesday, February 11, and then Pegasus Juniors on February 18.

Bewdley suffered a 5-2 defeat at high-flying Shropshire side Shawbury United last Saturday, but boss Phil Mullen insisted: “ It was never a 5-2 result!”

Although Bewdley went 2-0 down within ten minutes, they hit back through Russ Godfrey, who then hit the inside of the post and watched the ball rebound back out.

Will Ward then walloped in an own goal when trying to clear the ball over the crossbar before Dan Flowers clawed another goal back from the penalty spot.

Shawbury responded with two late goals and Mullen added: “We had enough chances to win, but we pressed the self destruct button.”
