STOURPORT Men continued their title push in the Midlands Division One with two wins over the weekend.

Victories over relegation battling South Notts and Chesterfield means the Wyre Forest outfit to open up a four-point leader over second-placed Stone.

On Saturday, Stourport raced to an 11-0 win against second-from-bottom Notts as they gave their goal difference a huge boost.

Despite missing two regular members of their starting line-up, Stourport’s destruction of South Nottingham began as early as the third minute when Chris Parry turned in a short corner.

This was soon followed by an Andy Cavendish straight corner conversion in the fifth minute. Goals continued to come at regular intervals either side of the half-time whistle with a second from Cavendish, a Chris Hill brace and one each from Phil Baldwin and David Knott.

The half-time score could have been more as the Kingsway-based club controlled the game.

In the second half, Cavendish and Baldwin both completed hat-tricks and Knott bagged his second.

The way in which the visitors went about their task was pleasing for the Stourport coaching team, who have put in a tireless amount of time to get the side working efficiently and professionally on and off the pitch.

Basement boys Chesterfield made life more difficult for under-strength Stourport but they managed to earn maximum points.

Despite long periods of possession, Stourport were unable to convert their countless chances and had to be content with a Cavendish brace from a short corner and a penalty stroke before half time.

The Seconds edged out Barford Tiger 3-2, thanks to goals for Adam Leeke and Matt Derbyshire.

The Thirds went down 3-1 to Warwick University, despite a goal for Paul Edwards, while Stourport fourths drew 0-0 with Edgbaston and the fifths lost 5-0 to Warwick.
