KIDDERMINSTER Carolians under-17s are fighting on national and regional fronts for silverware.

The Marlpool’s young guns have enjoyed a fine season and have reached the semi-finals of two competitions.

The team, coached by Rod Yapp, will play Nottingham side Paviors in the semi-finals of the National Midlands Division Plate at home on Sunday (11am ko).

To get this far, the team had to top the North Midlands West League and then finished fourth in the North Midlands League in January.

KCs then saw off Nottingham Moderns 22-0 to book a place in the last four.

Success at Midlands level would qualify them for the National semi-finals.

They are also in the last four of the North Midlands Plate, tackling either Dudley Kingswinford or Ledbury on April 19.

Team manager Mark Murphy said: “We’ve got a core of players who have been together since they were five.

“Some have come and gone but they have developed together.

“They are a level headed bunch and won’t be getting carried away by the game, even though it is the first time we have reached this far in the nationals.”
