STOURPORT Ladies moved away from the relegation zone in the Investec Conference West League Division after edging out Bristol Firebrands 1-0 on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Stourport were the stronger side and Lora Symonds ensured maximum points when she converted a well-struck short corner.

Victory lifted the Ladies from eighth to sixth in the table, they next game is at home to Trojans on Saturday (noon start).

The seconds enjoyed a convincing 5-1 victory over visitors Tamworth in the Midland Division 2.

Emma Pollock scored four of their goals and Liz Warne added the other Stourport thirds, entertaining Pershore, were also winners last weekend.

They beat their visitors 3-0, after the first half was goalless.

In a good competitive match, Stourport kept Pershore under sustained pressure but found it difficult to score in the first half.

After the break, Holly Lashford, Emma Pollock, and Fran Baron hit the back of the net.

The fourths got the better of Bournville 3-0, with Charlotte Lickman, Kate Bailey, and Hannah Yates on target.

Stourport Ladies fifths made it two wins in a row when they beat Kings Heath 7-2 in Worcestershire Division Two.

Ellie Calderwood opened the scoring after weaving through the centre of Heath’s defence and finishing well.

Rosie Connolly, Gemma Glennister and Bethany Neilson (3) also scored as Stour raced to a 6-1 lead.

Stourport expected an onslaught after the break and weren’t disappointed as Heath piled on the pressure but they weathered the storm and began to build chances of their own.

Stourport added their seventh through Connolly and Heath, who had already hit a post from a short corner, bagged a second just before the final whistle.
