MEMBERS of Wyre Forest Swimming Club won a host of medals at the County Championships.

After three weekends of fierce competition at Wolverhampton Gala Baths, the club bagged 19 age-group golds as well as 19 silvers and 13 bronze.

Megan Tinsdale became county champion in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events and improved on her heat times in both finals.

Younger brother Calum Tinsdale qualified for the 100m individual medal, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle finals and bagged two bronzes. In the 1500m freestyle, Emma Elwell took overall third place also winning her age group.

Sam Osborne won eight gold and five silver, while Jasmin Yates also won a hat-trick of events and earned four silver medals.

Head Coach Mark Wilmott said: "It's great to see more swimmers from the performance groups making it in to championship finals which is very positive for the club as a whole.

"Also great to have one of the younger swimmers, Olivia Jay, in Regional Development making it through to the 50 breaststroke final.

"That's great for the confidence of this young swimmer and for other swimmers to see that with hard work, anything is possible.’ Meanwhile at the Staffordshire Masters meeting, Wyre Forest picked up even more medals.

There was gold for Tracey Moore in the 50m and 100m breaststroke as well as a 50m butterfly bronze.

Martin Sloan earned second place in the 25m breaststroke and butterfly, as well as the 100m freestyle.
