KIDDERMINSTER Victoria junior and senior cricketers came together to spruce up the Chester Road ground ahead of the playing season.

They took part in last weekend’s annual NatWest CricketForce, promoted by the English Cricket Board Road.

With national sponsorship nationally from Jewson and locally from Express Tool Hire, players armed themselves with paint brushers to ensure their pavilion was up to scratch.

Some outside work on the pavilion was possible, despite the rain, and the changing and shower rooms benefited from a lick of paint to ensure they are in tiptop condition.

After winter training at Heathfield School and King Charles I High School, players are looking forward to the start of the season after winter practice at indoor nets.

Senior club league matches start on Saturday, April 25, with junior matches getting under way the next week.

Junior head coach Craig Wood said: “We welcome any new players across the age range from seven to 17.”

The club offers two free taster sessions to new players and outdoor training starts at Chester Road on Monday April 13.

The juniors aged from Under-9 nine to Under-17 play in Worcester Cricket Board league and cup competitions.

They also have the chance to trial for district and county squads and older juniors have the opportunity to represent one of Victoria's Kidderm-inster’s five adult teams playing in the Birmingham and Worcester-shire County leagues.

Practice, with qualified and police-vetted coaches, is goes on throughout the summer on Mondays from 6-pm until 8pm.
