ARCHERY: Strong winds gusting to gale force brought the Worcestershire County trials hosted by Wyre Forest Company of Archers to a premature end at the weekend.

Competitors from clubs throughout Worcestershire were expected to shoot 12 dozen arrows at distances up to 90 metres, but with an increasing wind strength affecting accuracy the tournament was halted on completion of the morning session.

However. several Wyre Forest members had by this time scored well enough to be selected to represent the in the forthcoming inter counties tournaments.

While the majority of the archers were content to get some respite from the wind the club’s junior ladies were left disappointed as they were well on course to obtain their Junior Master Bowman award for 2015.

The first inter county event will take place at Upper Arley on Sunday, April 26 with Lindsey Brazier, Penny Neaverson, Bill Bell , Scott Potter, Dave Brazier, Lauren Turner and Freya Palmer selected for the team.
