KIDDERMINSTER Carolians Under-17s continued to forge ahead on the cup trail after another successful weekend.

The club's youngsters have been demonstrating their potential in the North Midlands Cup and National Plate competitions.

KCs' young guns booked their place in the final of the National Plate Championships after getting the better of Halifax-based Northern champions Old Brodleians, from Halifax, 27-20.

They now travel to the AJ Bell Stadium, home of Sale Sharks, on Sunday, May 3, to play Heathfield and Waldron RFC.

KCs are enjoying unprecedented success in the National Plate.

They had secured the Midlands Plate title earlier in the month after defeating Paviors 32-17 in the last four and then edging out Syston 15-14 in the final.

They have also been in excellent form in the North Midllands Cup.

They had met Ledbury away in the semi-final of the competition.

In a thrilling game, where KCs trailed 19-5 at one point, saw them take before taking a the lead 26-19 lead, until a knock-on with a minute to go allowed Ledbury to level the scores.

In the event of a draw the competition rules state that the away team is awarded the victory, which set up a cup final against Sutton Coldfield RFC in Whitchurch, Shropshire, this Sunday.

Under-17s manager March Murphy said: "We have enjoyed fantastic support from club members, family members and friends as we have travelled around the country and look forward to their support in Manchester for the National Plate final."

As Midlands Plate Champions last Sunday we travelled to Preston to play Northern Champions Old Brodleians from Halifax. Another fantastic game of rugby where we trailed 10-0 at half time. The second half saw us play some of our best rugby of the season to storm to a 10-27 lead. Two try’s in final few minutes saw the game finish 20-27 with a well deserved victory to us.

They now travel to the AJ Bell Stadium, home of Sale Sharks, on Sunday, May 3 to play Heathfield and Waldron RFC .
