KIDDERMINSTER Victoria look to consolidate their top of the table position on Saturday when they travel to bottom side Wolverhampton in the Birmingham League Premier Division.

Then on Sunday, they turn their attentions to the ECB National Clubs Knockout when they play hosts to local rivals Ombersley in the Regional Final at Chester Road for a game which promises to attract a bumper crowd.

Skipper Matt Pardoe remains under no illusions of the task ahead and said: "Wolverhampton have made a slow start this season, but they are still a very decent side and not for one second am I expecting anything less than an easy time. Everyone needs to be on top of their game."

Pardoe has the prospect of selecting from a full strength squad at Wolverhampton and can welcome back experienced Jonathan Wright, fresh from his 50th birthday celebrations, who is likely to replace Richard Kimberlin.

But Kimberlin comes straight back into contention for Sunday's clash with Ombersley as Pardoe must plan to alter his attack with strike bowlers Connor Smith and Gareth Williams both unavailable along with the all-round talents of Michael Hill.

Henry Wright and Ryan Derrick both come into the reckoning, although Pardoe admits he will be keeping plenty up his sleeve.

Kidderminster have already disposed of Birmingham League Premier rivals Barnt Green together with Knowle and Dorridge, while Bromyard forfeited in this season's competition and Pardoe insists: "We're looking to go as far as we can this time. Apart from being a local derby, Ombersley are proving a very good side this season and we know we're in for a tough game, so it's important that we get a good crowd behind us on Sunday.

"I know Kidderminster have reached the quarter finals of this competition in the past and it would be nice to go that bit further, so we would appreciate every bit of support we can get."

Ombersley are likely to be without their outstanding overseas player, wicketkeeper-batsman Uday Kaul together with Worcestershire's Gareth Andrew who has played a first class game this season.

But they would be able to call upon fellow Pear Brett D'Oliveira.

Pardoe also points to the threat provided by batsman Liam Gwynne who has made a real impression for Ombersley in the Birmingham League Premier Division this season.

He claimed: "Liam can be very dangerous to us with the bat and is someone we really need to watch." Play starts at 1pm.

Kidderminster players spent last Saturday kicking their heels after their proposed trip to second placed Walmley was abandoned through torrential rain.

Pardoe revealed: " Walmley is a notoriously wet pitch. after talking with their skipper, the game was called off at 10am so we never had to travel. Instead we ended up having a few games of pool in the clubhouse."
