STOURPORT UK Kickboxing Club were in great form at the British ICO Championships, which were held at Cocks Moor Leisure Centre in Birmingham.

A seven strong squad picked up a host of wins after months of intensive training at their Wilden Village base.

Students had been working with British coaches Neil Kelly and Brad Hennessy and their efforts paid off.

First to fight was Dylan Pearson, 8, in the mat light contact section and he won his first bout had to settle for bronze after defeat in the next fight.

Jasmin Smith, 11, also made a fine start with victory in the first bout but just missed out on gold.

Jack Gwilliam, 11, faced a stiff challenge when he fought former British Champion and put on a great fight but lost on points.

Mia Clarke, 12, from Stourport put on two brilliant displays of kickboxing to become the under-40 kilogram girls mat light British ICO Champion and become the first girl to gain British championship in six years.

Tom Bell, 16, earned a silver in the light continuous section after losing to a five-time champion.

In the 45 kilogram section, Callum Bingham fought well but was edged out lost on points.

Smith was in action again and even though she knocked down her opponent , she was judged to have lost.

Bronte Lees, 15, was up against a former World Champion and acquitted herself well when taking silver.

Bell, Lees and Clarke attend Stourport High school, while Pearson is a pupil at s Wilden Primary school.

Gwilliam studies at Stourport Primary and smith goes tods Astley Primary, while Bingham goes to St John's in Kidderminster.

Coach Bryan Smith: " I’m so proud of these kids, they didn’t want to go to a fight in a inter-club tournament or local championship, gave up there time to trained really hard."
