KIDDERMINSTER Victoria powered their way into the final 16 of the Royal London National Club Championship with a 179 run win over Ombersley on Sunday.

KVCC will now take on Nottinghamshire side Kimberley Institute in the first of the the national rounds on Sunday, July 12 after a convincing win the regional final.

Ombersley had won the toss and invited KVCC to bat but it was a decision they would rue as Kidderminster powered to 253-7 in 45 overs.

Skipper Matt Pardoe had scored 44, five fours and two sixes, before being bowled by Oliver Uffindal and while Andy Kimberlin was dismissed for 15, Craig Wood and Nathan Round added more runs.

But it was a fourth wicket 109 run partnership between Ryan Derrick and Wood, guided KVCC to 108-3 to 217-4, when the former was bowled on 60 by Uffindal.

At 249, Wood’s great innings came to a close, eight runs short of his century. He had faced 88 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixess.

He eventually fell to a catch by David Brazier, giving Uffindall his fourth wicket.

Skipper Arti Fiaz claimed the last two wickets, bowling Richard Kimberlin for one, and then having Andrew Siwicki caught by Dominic D’Oliveira for eight.

Jonathan Wright (3) was the not out batsman.

Ombersley never really got going, losing their first 6 wickets for 29 runs.

A tremendous spell of bowling by Gareth Williams left their innings in tatters. Liam Gwynne (4), D’Oliveira (0), and Uffindall (9) all fell to catches by Pardoe and the two Kimberlins Andy and Tom.

The two other wickets were taken by Nathan Round. He had Baylis out lbw for 12 and Jack Park caught by keeper Tom Kimberlin for a duck.

Richard Kimberlin continued the onslaught, bowling David Brazier for 10, having Josh Young caught by Round for a duck, and then removing top-scorer Chris Harwood (13) with a brilliant catch by Charlie Stainforth.

Stainforth took the final wicket when Tom Kimberlin caught Neil Slade (0) as Ombersley were bowled for 74 in the 21st over.

Another good all round team performance that hopefully with give the club a successful cup run.

Victory was a good response to a six wicket defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton in the Birmingham League Premier on Saturday.

A delayed start due to rain saw the game reduced to 28 overs per side and Wolverhampton won the toss and elected to field.

Andrew Kimberlin (29), Michael Hill (37) and Wright (12) were the top scorers, with Andy Bowyer taking 4-29.

In reply, Ross Aucott top-scored with 53, Adam Lawley (24) and Alex Grant (24) provided the runs to gain the points for their first win.

Gareth Williams bowled well with figures of 9-3-23-2.

Despite this loss Kidderminster remain top with neighbours Ombersley close behind and they entertain Berkswell on Saturday (noon).
