KVCC ‘s U9 softball team have stormed to victory so far this season winning all six games in their two festivals.

In their tournament held at Worfield, after Alveley were forced to cancel theirs due to rain, the KVCC team romped to first place with 3 wins out of 3.

Liam Jones took two wickets in two balls, with his next ball being a run-out against Bewdley. All the team bowled well throughout the festival and batted very well to minimise the number of wickets lost. In their first game of the day, they conceded no wickets against Alveley, but took five of their wickets.

Their match against Worfield resulted in the opposition scoring a competitive total, but it was not enough to beat KVCC’s very good batting side, with notable performances, especially from Callum Bibb and Nathan Tidmarsh.

In last Sunday’s tournament at Bewdley it was a close first encounter with Alveley, winning by just two runs.

The second two games, against Bewdley and Worfield were won convincingly, with Jones consistently batting well, top scoring with 24 and very economical with the ball. Jack Link scored 20 and had the best bowling figures with 3-10 off three overs.

Jacob Townes took three wickets, backed up by Oskar Hyams and Gregor Stuart with two wickets apiece.

The U10s travelled to Pershore to win their pairs game 278 to 263, with a good team performance.

Top batting figures went to Josh Whittall (24) and Harry Taft (19), with no loss of wicket from either player. In fact KVCC lost only two wickets in the whole game.

Gregor Stuart claimed three wickets in a superb bowling spell with figures of 3 for 7 off 3 overs and Robbie Boucher and Whittall each claimed a maiden.

The U12s beat Martley away in the league, scoring 85 for 7 off 16 overs, beating the opposition’s 84-4.

However, they then lost to Rushwick in the cup, despite holding the opposition back to 77 runs, in a match they should have won.

The U12 premier team also lost in a close fought battle against Barnards Green, but there was more success for the U14s with a league win against Stourport.

Aaron Dalton played a blinder, with a hat-trick wicket plus one and 38 runs, batting at number eight. The team surpassed Stourport’s total of 90, with three overs to spare, another highlight being keeper Max Sly with 3 stumpings.

The U13s pair beat Worcester Nomads, with highlights being James Candia-Massey (37), Joe Miszkowski (38) and Rhydian White 2-13.
