A NEW sport which combines football and golf is taking Habberley GC by storm.

FootGolf is played on the same basis as conventional golf with the difference being that the players kick a football towards the hole which is 21 inches in diameter.

The FootGolf course at Habberley consists of nine holes varying in length from 50 yards to 210 yards.

As with golf, finesse and accuracy are just as important as strength and the ability to read the contours of the course is very important.

The first round was played on June 18 when the under-10s Stourport and District Football League champions from Bewdley Town FC were the visitors.

The players and their support team got the course of to an excellent start, with two players achieving a hole-in-one on the 100 yard second hole.

Everyone who played said that they had had a great time.

Habberley’s FootGolf Course will be open to the general public for group bookings from July 1 onwards and for individual pre-booked rounds from Saturday, July 4.
