MANAGER Gary Whild has secured another key summer signing for Harriers after landing experienced defender Kelvin Langmead on a season-long loan from Ebbsfleet United.

Langmead, who has played almost his entire career in the Football League, spent a short spell with the ‘Fleet having left Northampton Town where he’d played more than 100 games and became a firm favourite with the Cobblers faithful.

A commanding central defender standing 6ft 1in, he actually began his career as a striker, spending a short spell here at Aggborough on loan from Preston North End in 2004.

Between 2004 and 2010 he played the best part of 300 games for Shrewsbury Town where he took the captain’s armband and was regularly amongst the end-of-season awards. His form there earned him a move to Peterborough United before his time at Northampton.

The 30-year-old spent the latter half of last season with Ebbsfleet but will spend the entire forthcoming campaign back here with Harriers, having permission to play in all League and Cup competitions.
