STOURPORT lost ground on leaders Bredon and second-placed Cookley in Worcestershire League Division Two as they were edged out in a thrilling match at Bredon.

Batting first, Bredon scored an impressive 296-7 from their 50 overs, with Craig Siwicki returning figures of 3-64.

In reply, several Stourport batsmen made good starts without any going on to make that big score to take them to victory.

Ryan Delo (59), Siwicki (54) Chris Parry (47) and Mike Pratt (45) guiding Stourport to within seven runs of the Bredon total as they were bowled out in the 50th over.

This Saturday sees Stourport travel to Wormelow (1pm start).

The seconds remain 31 points clear at the top of WCL 2nd team Division One as they beat Colwall.

Stourport’s 256-9 was built around an excellent 106 from Mark Moss with fine support from Ian Delo with 59.

Fine bowling from the openers Tom Neath (3-35) and Will Downes (1-38) saw Colwall always behind the run rate. Spencer Colley chipping in with 3-33 saw Colwall bowled out in the 49th over for 226.

Stourport third and fourths both recorded convincing victories again Hallow first and second teams.

A maiden century from Mark Gleeson (125no) and 78 from David Pittaway saw Stourport thirds reach 294-4 from their 50 overs.

In reply, 3-46 from Laurence Neil and 2-17 from Matt Pearson saw Hallow bowled out for 176 in the 36th over.

Stourport fourths thrashed Hallow secondnds by 238 runs to remain top of Division Five.

Centuries from Dave Cook (118) and Mark Dearlove (103) saw Stourport post a massive 394-2 from their 45 overs.

Under-16s players Harry Downes (54no) and Brad Worton (43no) provided runs at the end of the innings.

In reply, Hallow were bowled out for 156 in the 38th over.
