SAMURAI Judo Club swept aside all opposition at the Kent International Open, winning two gold and one silver medals from their three entrants.

Olivia Turner took gold for the second consecutive year, but this time in a higher grade category.

The European SN champion dominated all of her contests and won the final very convincingly.

Leah Grosvenor also looked unstoppable as she disposed of all British opposition to make the final before defeating a Dutch opponent to seal gold.

Nathan Gallacher very nearly made it a hat-trick of golds.

He also reached the final after beating all of the British players comfortably, including an excellent win in the semi-final against an old rival.

He started well in the final against another Dutch player, but then made a wrong move when trying to evade a strong attack and was thrown for maximum points.

However, he was still pleased with the silver medal.

With around 700 competitors from Britain and Northern Europe, the Kent International has always been a major event and this was a good result.

Six more Samurai players were in the medals at a Birmingham competition, with golds for Lucy Skinner and Ellie Warburton-Harris, silvers for Harry Ashen and Felicity Warburton-Harris, and bronzes for Rob Alloway and Thomas Ward.
