NAOMI Folkard is set to test her mettle at the World Championships.

The 31-year-old Kidderminster resident has been selected as part of a six-strong recurve team which will compete in Copenhagen at the end of the month.

World Championships will be the first opportunity for archers to secure quota places for the Rio 2016 Olympics and will provide a high-pressured environment to compete against the best in the world.

Folkard (31) is an extremely experienced archer who has competed at the last three Olympic Games.

She was part of the Silver Medal Commonwealth Team in 2010 with Amy Oliver.

Naomi also won a bronze medal as part of the mixed team at the Shanghai World Cup in 2014 with Larry Godfrey.

Team GB are sending a very experienced squad, with Olympians Folkard, Oliver and Larry Godfrey competing at the top level of archery for a number of years.

This will be the first senior World Championships for Nicky Hunt, Kieran Slater and Patrick Huston. Patrick has previously competed at the Youth World Championships.

Oliver Logan, head of performance at Archery GB, said: “The World Championships will be the first opportunity for the recurve archers to secure quota places for Rio 2016.

"This event provides a high-pressured environment to compete against the best in the world providing invaluable experience ahead of the Olympics next year."

At the first ever European Games held in Baku in June, lost to Hunt in the final 32.
