AIMEE Lane sealed overall victory in the under-12s age group of the West Midlands Youth Series, despite battling illness at Stourport Sports Club.

Lane was battling a sore throat but a third-place finish was enough to ensure the top spot.

The event was promoted by Wyre Forest CRC under the leadership of Richard Pedersen.

Ben Lawrence placed 10th in the boys race while in the under-14s race Sam Cooper and Jamie Crump broke away from the rest of the field in a 15 rider group with the final positions being decided in the uphill sprint finish with Cooper taking fifth and Crump ninth.

Lucy Walters continues to improve posting a personal best time of 24 minutes and 27 seconds for 10 miles on the Lutterworth course, where she finished second in the latest round of the Midland Women’s TT series.

She was supported by Karen Riley also recording a personal best with a time of 27.40.

David Prior joined 78 other hardy veterans in an LVRC event which combined road and farm tracks along the Northamptonshire and Warwickshire border where he placed third in his age category.

A late change of venue due to traffic lights on the Pearl Lane course depleted the field for the latest round of Wyre Forest CRC’s midweek time trial championship.

However, the leading trophy contenders produced some excellent times resulting in a close finish at the top with Jon Howard closing the gap on Steve Vanes to just two seconds and Andy Overton forsaking his road bike for his TT machine now coming into contention for another award.

Midweek TT championship results: Steve Vanes 21.23; Jon Howard 21.25; Andy Overton 22.31; Dave Meacham 22.42; Stuart Walker 23.18; Brad Bradley 25.02; Andy Cooper 25.16; Paul Gibson 25.38; Ken Bradbury 26.10.
