ATHLETICS: Ellie England bounced back from a disappointing performance at the English Track and Field Championships to win the long jump at the Wenlock Olympic Games.

The teenager from Kidderminster took the long jump crown with a leap of 5.08 metres.

It was the perfect response to an under par performance at the Gateshead International Athletics Stadium.

Making her debut at the nationals, a bout of nerves saw her fail to reach the finals.

Meanwhile, William Richardson was fourth in the senior boys 3,000m.

Kidderminster and Stourport AC’s Katie Lambert made the final of the intermediate girls hammer but was unable to successfully defend her title as she came ninth.
