KIDERMINSTER Harriers' have drafted in former Coventry City manager Steven Pressley ahead of two important games in the Vanarama National League.

The former Celtic and Rangers defender answered the call from director Colin Gordon to work alongside Gary Whild, Mark Creighton and Tim Flowers behind the scenes for a month.

The 41-year-old is currently looking for a new job, but has set his sights set on working for a Football League club.

Basement boys Harriers, who are still waiting for their first win, face an important bottom-of-the-table clash at Halifax on Saturday (3pm ko) before taking on fellow strugglers Torquay at home next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Three points for the Reds on Saturday would lift them off the bottom of the table.

“Colin has been able to call on Steven for a favour and we’re all excited about being able to work with him for a month,” said chairman Rod Brown.

“Given the financial situation at the club, we clearly don’t have the clout to go out and sign four or five players to bolster the squad, but we do recognise that there are some other ways that we can help.

“Gary and his staff have been working tirelessly since the summer, and although we would obviously have liked a few more points at this stage, this isn’t about putting in place massive change at the club.

Continued on Page 86 “Steven’s time at the training ground for the next few weeks will not cost the club a penny, but we hope the advantages we can take from it will be a lot more lucrative as he and the staff put their minds together to try and help Kidderminster Harriers.

“It was important to do something after such a tough start to the season for the management and the team, and any difference this can make will be a big boost.”

Harriers will be without midfielder Luke Maxwell for three games after he was shown a straight red card for a late and high challenge on Alex Woodyard.

Meanwhile, winger Keyon Reffell scored for Halesowen Town on Tuesday night as they defeated Matlock 3-0.

The wideman and fellow Kidderminster man Reece Hales have joined The Yeltz for a month.

The club's academy team got the better of Evesham 7-0 to progress in the FA Youth Cup.

Dan Sweeney, who signed a professional deal at the club in the summer, smashed in three goals as the hosts won out 7-0 victors, with Reece Jacobs (2), Matthew Evans and Charlie Gregg the other scorers.
