YOUNG cricketers were rewarded for their hard work at Kidderminster Victoria’s junior presentation night.

Leading the honours was 17-year-old James Rawlings with his award, the Harvey Wagstaff Memorial Cup, for the most outstanding feat.

He earned the accolade with a superb 109 not out playing for the club’s fourth team in Worcestershire’s 2nd X1 Division Three against Himley.

The Reg Bridgewater Trophy for most enthusiastic player went to U14 player Lewis Davies.

The Rob Wood Trophy was awarded to U15’s keeper/batsman Sam Beadsworth for being willing to play where ever required at junior, senior and county level.

Worcestershire’s leading wicket taking Joe Leach was on hand to present the awards at the ceremony.

Among the highlights was U12’s Joe Miszkowski, who picked up best batsman for U12s, U13s and U14s.

He scored almost 1,000 runs, including more than 600 for KVCC in Worcester league club cricket, 186 for county and scored his first century in a district game.

Head coach Craig Wood said: “I have been very pleased with the juniors’ season. Five teams finished top in their divisions.”

Thirty-two KVCC juniors have been nominated for Worcestershire county team trials from the U9 junior academy to the U16s/U17s squads.
