BEWDLEY Town brought a barren run of seven games without a win to a welcome halt this week with a 3-1 success over Wellington Amateurs.
New recruit Sam Prescott vollied home from a corner to put Bewdley in front before Tyler Richards made it 2-0 with a 25 yard special.
Tom Connelly then completed an excellent first half display by Bewdley when breaking clear to round the goalkeeper and put his side 3-0 up at the break.
Manager Phil Mullen claimed: “We played very well in the first half and we could have easily scored six.
“This result has been coming. We were held to a 2-2 draw with Ellesmere Rangers following a late equaliser and then we lost 2-1 to Wellington last Saturday after conceding a 94th minute penalty.”
Prescott has returned to Bewdley’s ranks having played pre-season with last season’s West Midlands League champions Sporting Khalsa.
Mullen has also recruited striker Richard Young from local Sunday football, but he was previously with Gornal Athletic.
Bewdley will be put to the test this Saturday when they travel to high flying Shropshire side Shawbury United who are one of this season’s title favourites.
